Bishop’s College (16U) and Elite Hockey Academy (18U) Crowned Champions at PPHL Playoffs Weekend

The Power Prep Hockey League (PPHL) concluded an exciting Boys Playoffs weekend at Cyclones Arena in Hudson, New Hampshire, as Bishop’s College captured the 16U Championship and Elite Hockey Academy claimed the 18U Championship following three days of high-level competition, dramatic finishes, and outstanding individual performances.

Featuring seven teams in each division, the playoff format reset the standings from the regular season, giving every program a fresh opportunity to compete for a league title. All teams competed in preliminary showcase play across Saturday and Sunday before advancing to Monday’s crossover round, which included semifinals, consolation games, and championship matchups.


16U Division Recap

The 16U division delivered some of the most competitive hockey of the weekend, highlighted by overtime thrillers and comeback victories throughout preliminary play.

Bishop’s College opened with a dramatic 5-4 overtime victory over Westchester Wolves, as Nathan Adams scored the game winner with just 25 seconds remaining in overtime. Despite the loss, Westchester’s Sam Rochette recorded a four-point performance (2G, 2A). Ontario Hockey Academy followed with a 4-3 win over New Hampshire Mountain Kings, powered by Liam Marcil’s late third-period game-winning goal and a two-point effort from Yehor Pyshalko.

Cyclones Academy earned a signature early win, defeating Elite Hockey Academy 5-3 behind a hat trick from Jaden Dee, while Cole Lucas added a goal and an assist. Bishop’s College later secured a 4-0 shutout victory over Lovell Academy, with Thomas Roy scoring twice and goaltender Dax Doiron stopping all 14 shots faced.

Westchester Wolves rebounded with a 3-1 win over Ontario Hockey Academy behind two goals from Jackson Chuck, while Elite Hockey Academy defeated New Hampshire Mountain Kings 6-3 as Borisz Weisz and Henry Thorne each scored twice. Cyclones Academy continued its strong play with a 2-1 overtime victory over Bishop’s College, decided by Marco Pena’s far-side overtime finish.

Lovell Academy earned a 3-1 win over Ontario Hockey Academy thanks to Kinno Zhu’s three-point performance, while New Hampshire Mountain Kings defeated Westchester Wolves 5-2 behind a hat trick from Nicolas Ceplis and four points from Georgs Hudjakovs. Cyclones closed preliminary play with another late win, defeating Lovell Academy 3-2 as Luca Chiarizia scored with 34 seconds remaining.

Cyclones Academy finished preliminary play undefeated at 3-0-0 to earn the top seed heading into crossover Monday. Bishop’s College secured the No. 2 seed at 2-0-1, narrowly edging Elite Hockey Academy (2-1-0) via goal differential to claim the tiebreaker. Westchester Wolves finished fourth at 1-1-1 to round out the semifinal field, while New Hampshire Mountain Kings (5th) and Ontario Hockey Academy (6th) advanced to the consolation game. Lovell Academy finished seventh following tiebreak procedures and was eliminated from championship contention.

Semifinals & Championship

In the first semifinal, Cyclones Academy advanced with a convincing 5-1 victory over Westchester Wolves. Luca Chiarizia scored twice while goaltender Dominic Watson turned aside 24 shots.

The second semifinal delivered one of the most dramatic games of the weekend. Bishop’s College rallied from a 3-0 first-period deficit to defeat Elite Hockey Academy 4-3 in double overtime. After tying the game late in regulation, Bishop’s completed the comeback in 3-on-3 overtime when Henry Bassuk tipped home the winner for his second goal and third point of the game.

New Hampshire Mountain Kings claimed the consolation game with a 4-3 win over Lovell Academy.

In the 16U Championship Game, Bishop’s College defeated Cyclones Academy 3-1 to secure the title. Henry Collingwood scored the game-winning goal on a one-timer, while Thomas Roy contributed two assists, including the primary helper on the decisive goal.

Forward Thomas Roy was named 16U Tournament MVP following a standout weekend that included multiple multi-point performances, two preliminary-round goals against Lovell Academy, a key semifinal goal, and a two-assist effort in the championship game.


18U Division Recap

The 18U division showcased explosive offense and strong goaltending performances throughout preliminary play.

Lovell Academy opened with a dominant 7-2 win over The Hill Academy behind a five-point performance from Kingsley Solomon (3G, 2A). Westchester Wolves defeated Cyclones Academy 5-3, while Elite Hockey Academy earned a commanding 9-1 victory over Ontario Hockey Academy featuring nine different goal scorers and a three-assist performance from Dasan Akwue.

Lovell Academy continued its momentum with a 4-1 win over New Hampshire Mountain Kings fueled by a four-goal third period and multi-point games from Hudson Morris and Colin Smith. Westchester Wolves later defeated The Hill Academy 4-3 in overtime, with Maxim Chudy scoring the winner after Cooper Rodgers forced overtime late in regulation.

Lovell added another tight win, defeating Ontario Hockey Academy 2-1 on Ashton Marszalek’s third-period game winner. Elite Hockey Academy followed with a 5-0 shutout over Cyclones Academy, highlighted by John Coombe’s three-point effort and Ethan Bodie’s 22-save shutout.

Westchester Wolves defeated New Hampshire Mountain Kings 6-4 behind two goals from Miles Shields, while Cyclones Academy earned a 3-0 shutout win over The Hill Academy thanks to Evan Maloney’s 32-save performance. Ontario Hockey Academy closed preliminary play with a 7-1 victory over New Hampshire Mountain Kings led by Jordan King’s hat trick.

Elite Hockey Academy secured the top seed at 3-0-0, edging Lovell Academy via goal differential, followed by Westchester Wolves in third place.

Semifinals & Championship

Elite Hockey Academy advanced to the final with a 3-2 overtime victory over Ontario Hockey Academy, as Luke Crooker scored the game winner with 2:45 remaining in overtime. Martin Cerny recorded two points in the win.

Westchester Wolves earned their championship berth with a 4-1 victory over Lovell Academy, powered by two goals from Parker Handy and a strong 22-save performance by Jacob Janosko.

Cyclones Academy defeated The Hill Academy 6-4 in the consolation matchup.

In the 18U Championship Game, Elite Hockey Academy defeated Westchester Wolves 3-1 to capture the PPHL title. Vladislav Mikheev recorded a goal and an assist, including the game-winning tally, while Elite controlled the game with a dominant second period that tilted momentum decisively in their favor.

Goaltender Ryan O’Hagan was named 18U Tournament MVP after posting a .955 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average, earning victories in both preliminary play and the championship game.

PPHL playoff action continues next weekend as the Girls Division takes the ice February 27 through March 1 at Cadillac Ice Arena in Walpole, Massachusetts. The weekend will also feature the 16U/19U Girls Combined All-Star Game as we officially conclude the girls season.
