The Power Prep Hockey League continued its 2025–26 Boys season this past weekend with the True North Showdown in Cornwall, Ontario. The second league event of the year featured comeback victories, late-game heroics, and standout individual performances across the 16U and 18U divisions.
16U Division Recap
The 16U division opened with a statement as guest team College Bourget rallied for five unanswered goals to defeat Elite Hockey Academy 5–2, led by a hat trick from Nicholas-Michael Mafhouz. The NH Mountain Kings followed with a dramatic 2–1 OT victory over Okanagan Hockey Ontario, with Ethan Normore scoring 1:24 into overtime and strong goaltending from Dom Wenner, stopping 25/26 shots.
Ontario Hockey Academy delivered a dominant weekend, finishing 3–0 with key offensive surges. Their comeback win over Lovell Academy was fueled by three unanswered in the third period, and they capped the weekend with a 4–3 victory over NH behind a hat trick and game winner from Mykyta Staskevych, supported by four assists from Elliott Sullivan.
Elite Hockey Academy and Bishops College remained at the top of the standings, each climbing to 5-1-0 with 14 points. Elite defeated Bishops 4–1 backed by a standout performance from goaltender Kasem Richard (43/44 saves), while Bishops responded with a 6–3 win over Lovell, led by a multi-point effort from Thomas Roy.
Other notable highlights included Lovell’s Dominik Šimáček scoring four goals, including the game-winner vs. NH, and a 5–2 Westchester win powered by four points from Sam Rochette (2G, 2A).
Across the division, Westchester’s Preston Handy (12 points) and Elite’s Borisz Gyrgy Weisz (12 points) are tied for the scoring lead, while Šimáček, Roy, and Weisz share the goal-scoring lead with seven goals apiece. Elite’s Richard (1.96 GAA) and OHA’s Matvii Kulish (1.68 GAA) headline division goaltending.
18U Division Recap
At the 18U level, Lovell Academy continued to lead the league, extending their perfect record to 6-0-0, highlighted by two dramatic victories. Lovell edged Ontario Hockey Academy 4–3 in a shootout and later defeated Ulysse Academy in a tight game. Champagne had himself a weekend, including a hat trick in a 7–4 victory over The Hill Academy.
Elite Hockey Academy produced the biggest offensive performance of the weekend, earning a 9–1 win over Okanagan Hockey Ontario with hat tricks from Vladislav Mikheev (3G, 2A) and John Coombe (3G, 1A). Elite also secured a 4–2 win over OHA backed by strong two-way play from Iaroslav Kushchev and a shutout earlier in the weekend by goaltender Ethan Bodie (23 saves).
Additional highlights included a 50-save performance from Hill’s Gavin Myson in a 4–1 win over NH, and a five-point night from Ulysse’s Alex Graveline (1G, 4A) in a 5–1 victory over NH.
Across the division, Elite’s Mikheev leads the PPHL with 14 points, while Lovell’s Cohen Champagne holds the goal-scoring lead with eight. Lovell goaltender Devin Mehta remains undefeated, posting a 1.47 GAA through six games, leading the division as Lovell holds first place with 17 points.

The PPHL Boys regular season concludes January 23–25 at the PPHL Frozen Frenzy, hosted at Lovell Arena in Rockland, Massachusetts. Both the Boys and Girls divisions will close out their regular seasons at the Frozen Frenzy, where playoff seeding and standings will be determined.
