The Power Prep Hockey League officially opened its 2025–26 Boys season this past weekend with the Northeast Classic, featuring strong early-season performances, breakout players, and tightly contested matchups across both the 16U and 18U divisions.

16U Division Recap

The 16U division delivered intensity from the opening puck drop, headlined by Elite Hockey Academy and Bishops College posting perfect weekends.

Elite Hockey Academy went 3-0-0, beginning with a 4–3 OT win over the NH Mountain Kings. Borisz Gyrgy Weisz was electric all weekend and set the tone early, scoring the overtime winner and finishing with two goals and an assist in the opener. Weisz continued his momentum with a hattrick and four-point performance in a 5–2 win over Lovell Academy. Elite also secured a 1–0 defensive victory over Ontario Hockey Academy, powered by a first-period goal from Madden Gillis and a standout 31-save shutout from Jacob Johnson.

Bishops College also went 3-0, highlighted by an explosive 11–0 win over NS Wings Academy, where Thomas Roy scored four times, Samuel Boutet tallied two goals and an assist, and both Marc-Antoine Larochelle and Cole Toms posted three-point games. Goaltender Dax Doiron turned away all nine shots he faced. Bishops capped their weekend with a 3–2 overtime victory against the Westchester Wolves, sealed by Nathan Adams beating a defenseman wide and burying the winner.

Westchester Wolves (2-0-1) earned points in all three games, including a 4–3 shootout win over Cyclones Academy with Sam Rochette and Jackson Chuck scoring in the tiebreaker. Cyclones Academy went 1-1-1, including a strong 5–4 win over NH Mountain Kings fueled by a decisive four-goal second period.

Ontario Hockey Academy finished 1-2-0, picking up their win with a 4–1 performance over NH Mountain Kings behind a multi-point night from Elliott Sullivan and a 20-save effort from Jin Inoue. Guest team NS Wings Academy claimed a 4–2 victory over Cyclones Academy with two-point efforts from Dante Capozi and William Fess.

Across the division, Elite’s Borisz Gyrgy Weisz led all 16U skaters with eight points (5G, 3A), while Lovell Academy goaltender Marc-Antoine Foulem delivered an impressive weekend in between the pipes, allowing just one goal on 52 shots (.981).

18U Division Recap

At the 18U level, Lovell Academy set the pace with a 3-0-0 weekend, driven by structure, depth scoring, and exceptional goaltending. Devin Mehta played all three games for Lovell, stopping 69 of 72 shots (.972) while backstopping wins over Ontario Hockey Academy (3–1), NH Mountain Kings (3–0), and The Hill Academy (5–1). Offensively, Lovell received key contributions throughout the lineup, including multi-goal performances from Cohen Champagne and a four-point effort (2G, 2A) from Hudson Morris in the win over The Hill Academy.

Westchester Wolves finished 2-0-1, backed by strong goaltending from Jackson Grill (31/32 vs NH Mountain Kings) and Jacob Janosko, who made 47 saves in an OT loss to Elite Hockey Academy and 31 stops in a win over Cyclones Academy.

Ontario Hockey Academy went 2-1-0, highlighted by a 10–2 offensive outburst over NH Mountain Kings. Kaemon Tran led the entire 18U division in scoring with an eight-point weekend (4G, 4A), including a seven-point performance in that win.

Elite Hockey Academy posted a dominant 8–0 victory over The Hill Academy with a six-goal first period, a shutout from Ryan O’Hagan, and a five-point game from Vladislav Mikheev, who later added the OT winner in a 3–2 victory over Westchester.

Looking Ahead

The PPHL Boys season resumes December 5–7 as all teams head to Cornwall, Ontario for the True North Showdown, hosted at Ontario Hockey Academy. With early standings beginning to take shape and top performers emerging across both divisions, the momentum from the Northeast Classic sets the tone for another competitive and talent-filled weekend.
