PPHL Frozen Frenzy Delivers High-Level Competition Ahead of Playoffs

The PPHL Frozen Frenzy took over Lovell Arena in Rockland, Massachusetts this past weekend, hosting both the PPHL Boys and Girls divisions in their final showcase event before playoff season. With league teams and designated guest teams in attendance, the weekend featured elite competition across all divisions.

Due to a snowstorm, Sunday’s games were cancelled, with all teams competing on Friday and Saturday.

PPHL would like to extend a special thank you to CWENCH, a proud partner of the league, for donating over 500 water bottles distributed to teams throughout the Frozen Frenzy weekend, as well as providing Player of the Game awards for the PPHL All-Star Games.


Boys 16U Division Recap

The Boys 16U division featured a mix of league and guest teams delivering fast-paced and competitive matchups.

Boston Hockey Academy (Guest) opened with a 6-3 win over Lovell Academy, powered by two-goal performances from Alexander Holden and Gavin Stone, while Jake Edwards turned aside 32 shots. Elite Hockey Academy picked up a 4-2 victory over Westchester Wolves behind three-point nights from Dylan Van Spronsen (1G, 2A) and Henry Thorne (2G, 1A), with Jacob Johnson stopping 34 shots.

Bishops College blanked New Hampshire Mountain Kings 4-0, led by Elliott Correia’s three-point effort (2G, 1A) and an 11-save shutout from Egor Oganesyan. Cyclones Academy followed with a 3-0 shutout of Ontario Hockey Academy, as Parker Drysdale posted two points and Jackson Barany made 30 saves.

New Hampshire Mountain Kings earned a shootout win over Elite Hockey Academy, capped by Camden Riel’s shootout goal. Bishops College rolled past Northeast Hockey Academy (Guest) 9-1, with Greyson Hnatiuk (2G, 2A) and Samuel Boutet (1G, 2A) leading the way. Boston Hockey Academy (Guest) defeated Ontario Hockey Academy 4-2, highlighted by Carson Hayes (1G, 2A) and Roman Gerr (3A).

Elite Hockey Academy closed the weekend with a 4-1 win over Cyclones Academy, once again backed by Jacob Johnson’s strong performance in goal.

Season Leaders:
Julius Ahlstrom and Boris Weisz (Elite Hockey Academy) led all skaters with 14 points. Weisz finished as the league’s leading goal scorer with 9 goals.
In goal, Jacob Johnson (Elite Hockey Academy) stood out with a 2.00 GAA and .937 save percentage.


Boys 18U Division Recap

The 18U division featured high-scoring affairs and strong individual performances throughout the weekend.

King’s-Edgehill School (Guest) edged Northeast Hockey Academy (Guest) 5-4, while Cyclones Academy defeated The Hill Academy 8-2 behind two-goal games from Carson Ring and Kenny Carpenter. Elite Hockey Academy defeated Lovell Academy 7-1, highlighted by a Simon Cseh hat trick.

NH Mountain Kings earned a shootout win over Ontario Hockey Academy, while Westchester Wolves defeated NH Mountain Kings 17U (Guest) behind a Carson Kirchofner hat trick. NH Mountain Kings followed with an 8-3 win over The Hill Academy, led by Egor Vinokurov’s five-point game (1G, 4A).

Lovell Academy topped Westchester Wolves 7-2, with Ashton Marszalek recording four points (3G, 1A). Elite Hockey Academy defeated King’s-Edgehill School (Guest) 10-1, powered by Vladislav Mikheev’s four-point performance.

Ontario Hockey Academy defeated Northeast Hockey Academy (Guest) 5-3, as Oliver Anderton factored into all five goals (1G, 4A). NH Mountain Kings 17U (Guest) secured an overtime win over King’s-Edgehill School (Guest), with Jimmy Meekma scoring the game-winner. Elite Hockey Academy capped the weekend with a 5-1 win over Cyclones Academy, led by Iaroslav Kushchev (1G, 2A).

Vladislav Mikheev (Elite Hockey Academy) led all 18U skaters with 21 points and 10 goals.
In goal, Devin Mehta (Lovell Academy) posted a 2.33 GAA across seven games.


Girls 19U Division Recap

King’s-Edgehill School defeated Boston Hockey Academy 6-2, with Heather Lawton and Jenna Greenwood each recording three points. Rice Prep defeated Ontario Hockey Academy 3-1, highlighted by Jayden Russo’s game-winning goal.

NAHA edged King’s-Edgehill School 2-1 on a last-second goal from Emma-Joan Lawton. Rice Prep followed with a 4-1 win over Boston Hockey Academy despite a 37-save effort from Devanee Haig. Ontario Hockey Academy shut out NAHA 2-0 behind Paige Schurer’s two goals and Ruth Millward’s 27-save performance.

Rice Prep completed a dramatic comeback win over King’s-Edgehill School, scoring three goals in the final minutes. Boston Hockey Academy defeated Ontario Hockey Academy in a shootout, with Keira Mormillo scoring the lone shootout goal. NAHA closed with a 3-2 win over Rice Prep, led by Meghan Goldie’s two goals.

Madison Levesque (College Bourget) led all 19U skaters in points (13), while Alison Maclean (King’s-Edgehill School) finished tied for the league lead in goals with five.
In net, Ruth Millward (Ontario Hockey Academy) stood out, posting a 2.29 GAA over six games.


Girls 16U Division Recap

Boston Hockey Academy edged Norwich Hockey Club 2-1 in a goaltending duel, with Olivia Frasso stopping 29 shots. NAHA defeated Ontario Hockey Academy 4-3, led by Katie Mehling’s three assists and Charlotte Lobisser’s game-winning goal.

Ontario Hockey Academy defeated Boston Hockey Academy 6-0 behind Michelle Dinning’s shutout. NAHA defeated Norwich Hockey Club 5-0, and Ontario Hockey Academy followed with another 5-0 victory over Norwich.

NAHA closed with an 8-0 win over Boston Hockey Academy, backed by Kylie Henderson’s two goals and a shutout from Rebecca Cohen.

College Bourget (3-0-1)
NAHA (3-0-0)
Boston Hockey Academy (2-4-0)
Norwich Hockey Club (0-7-0)

Tatiana Deblois (College Bourget) led all 16U skaters in both goals (7) and points (12) in just four games. In net, Michelle Dinning (Ontario Hockey Academy) impressed with a 1.12 GAA over four games.


Looking Ahead

With the PPHL Frozen Frenzy now complete, attention turns to the postseason. The PPHL Boys Playoffs are set for February 14-16 at Cyclones Arena in Hudson, Massachusetts, where teams will battle for league championships following the conclusion of regular season play.

The PPHL Girls Playoffs will take place February 27-March 1 at Cadillac Ice Arena in Walpole, Massachusetts, highlighted by the combined 16U/19U PPHL Girls All-Star Game, which will officially kick off the girls’ playoff weekend and showcase the league’s top talent.
