The 2025 Power Prep Hockey League (PPHL) Northeast Power Prep Classic delivered an action-packed weekend of competition, showcasing some of the top prep hockey talent across both the 19U and 16U divisions. From dominant performances to hard-fought matchups, this event highlighted the continued growth and intensity of PPHL girls’ hockey.
19U Division: College Bourget Stays Perfect
College Bourget stole the spotlight in the 19U division, finishing the weekend with an undefeated 4–0 record. Their impressive run was capped by a narrow one-goal victory over Lovell Academy, the 2025 championship opponent and runner-up. Bourget coasted through their other three games with disciplined play, depth scoring, and standout goaltending that set them apart from the field.
Lovell Academy, the 2025 runner-up, dropped only a single game all weekend — their matchup against Bourget — and otherwise displayed their trademark structure and speed. Their consistency throughout the tournament positions them as a continued powerhouse heading into the next PPHL event.
Rounding out the top three, Kings Edgehill School (KES) turned in a solid performance, going 2–2 with competitive games against both Rice Prep and Boston Hockey Academy. Their offensive push and energy made them a tough matchup for every opponent.
Ontario Hockey Academy (OHA) also finished the weekend 2–2, earning a fourth-place standing after several closely contested games that showcased their depth and resilience.
Newcomer Rice Prep made a strong first impression, picking up their first PPHL win over Boston Hockey Academy and earning fifth place overall.
Despite going winless at 0–3, Boston Hockey Academy showed heart and determination throughout the event, pushing both Rice and KES to the limit in two hard-fought battles that underscored their potential as a new program in the league.
16U Division: College Bourget Narrowly Takes the Crown
In the 16U division, College Bourget once again came out on top — this time edging out Ontario Hockey Academy by just one point in the standings. The two programs traded strong performances all weekend in what’s quickly becoming a budding rivalry in PPHL girls’ hockey.
Boston Hockey Academy finished third with a 1–2 record, highlighted by a strong win over Norwich Academy, while Norwich Academy — a first-time program — battled hard in every contest. Despite going 0–4, Norwich’s goalies turned in remarkable performances, facing a staggering 152 shots over the weekend and keeping their team in several close games.
Looking Ahead
The next PPHL Women’s Event is scheduled for January 23–25, 2025, at Lovell Academy. For the first time in league history, the women’s competition will run side-by-side with the men’s division, promising an exciting weekend of high-level prep hockey action.
Stay tuned and follow the PPHL on all platforms for live updates, scores, and highlights throughout the season.
